"Our Rights" is a Technical Assistance program which is implemented within a framework of “Community Participation and Regional Advocacy” Project in Khabarovsky and Primorsky krais of the Russian Far East in 2006-2009 under USAID funding.
The program goal is to strengthen the capacity of municipal and regional organizations to develop and implement advocacy initiatives and to seek for reforms. The Program is implemented by “Management Systems International” (USA) in cooperation with Khabarovsky Krai Public Organization “Initiative Plus” and Interregional Public Charitable Organization “Far Eastern Community Resource Center “Initiative Network of Regional Activists” I.S.A.R.” )
The following events are scheduled for the program realization:
- Identification of organizations experienced or interested in advocacy; assessment of professional and resource potential of the organizations; identification of regional priorities in terms of issue areas for advocacy.
- Conducting of trainings and training events in development and implementation of effective advocacy projects.
- Consulting of civil community organizations in real advocacy campaigns implementation under small grants program support.
- Development of Advocacy Organizational Network advocating in various priorities and directions. Conducting of regional and interregional meetings for experience exchange and organization of joint events. The Quarterly Newsletter and regularly updated website will enlarge the Network participants’ communication resources and progress/results awareness.
- Attraction of professional lawyers to consult organizations in terms of all legal aspects of implementing projects.
- Establishment of Advocacy Resource Center with the following mission: to provide local organizations dealing with or planning of advocacy programs, with consulting support, trainings and informational resources.
- Provision of opportunities to attract resources for advocacy programs. Creation of Forum combining resources of business sector, local government and other potential sponsors to discuss issues of cooperation and financial sustainability.
- Development and publishing of Effective Advocacy Campaigns Planning and Implementation Manual. This Manual will summarize the Program results and present the real methods for planning and implementation of advocacy projects. The Manual will serve as an informational and methodical resource for any Russian regional organization planning for advocacy program.
